More than 20 years and eight albums into their career, Green Day are more prolific and adventurous than ever. The band, which spent the last few years garnering acclaim for the punk rock operas American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, just announced they will release a trilogy of albums, entitled Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! and due out September 25, November 13 and January 15, respectively.
“We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives,” Green Day said. “This is the best music we’ve ever written, and the songs just keep coming. Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels. We just can’t help ourselves… We are going epic as fuck!”
In the video above, the guys seem excited about the effort, proclaiming, “What a way to start the decade!” Three albums is a lot of songs. Let’s just hope that the “epic” music is good music.
